Making a Master(s student)

This year, I’m doing a continuation of my dissertation focus – Oystercatcher foraging behaviour! I love these charismatic waders and they’re an easy bird to find and follow even if the weather or light levels are unfavourable. This is mostly due to their colouration (black and white with a bright red beak).

I’ve been collecting data (in the form of video footage) over the summer, and I’ve also begun analysing and recording various behaviours, including foraging and movement.

So as lectures are approaching, I’ve been keeping a close eye on the tides and weather patterns to determine the best times to go and collect more footage, unfortunately, I have a part-time job and I need to discuss my work hours.

I don’t recommend balancing lectures, independent study, data collection and a retail job, but, due to circumstances, I will need to.

On the other hand, I am looking forward to filling notebooks with data and useful information from my lectures. I have a tutor meeting scheduled so I can discuss a more solid direction for my research.
